Hello and welcome to the Curious Travelers website! The aforementioned Curious Travelers are myself, Jen, and my husband, Jeff. While it goes without saying that we both love to travel, we also share an interest in photography (though Jeff is much better at it than I am) and I love to write. Given these interests, we thought we’d join the masses and start blogging!
First, let me tell you a bit about our backgrounds. We are both Southerners. What does that mean, exactly? I am an American from the southeastern US. Jeff is a Kiwi from the South Island of New Zealand. Trust me when I say that our Southern accents are very different!
I caught the “travel bug” on my first overseas trip when I lived with a family in Venice, Italy for 3 weeks as part of a school foreign exchange program at the impressionable age of 15. That trip opened my eyes to the world, and I’ve never looked back. While I travel every chance I get, my most memorable experience was moving to New Zealand for 2 years by myself in my 20’s. Young, free, and ready to “find myself.”
And yep, you got it, while I was finding myself, I also found a husband. That old cliché is true–it happens when you least expect it! Since then, Jeff and I have lived in the US with “real jobs” and itchy feet–always wanting to travel more and longer. This website is our compromise, as it allows us to indulge in our hobbies while also living in the real world.
